OEM Part Info - DPFE Sensor
The DPFE or Differential Pressure Feedback EGR Sensor is a ceramic pressure transducer. Its main purpose is to determine the flow of the EGR system. As gasoline flows to the EGR system tubes, the DPFE sensor’s dual tubing reads the pressure. The difference in the pressure is registered in the DPFE which analyzes the amount of gasoline flowing through the EGR system. The DPFE sends this analysis to the PCM or Powertrain Control Module which uses the information to adjust the actuator.
The OEM DPFE is built to ensure optimal performance and durability. Ford engineers their DPFEs for long service life under harsh conditions in under-hood environments, which includes extreme heat and cold. Additionally, OEM parts have been tested with other vehicle emission sensors to provide optimal fuel efficiency and emissions. Only Ford OEM parts strictly adhere to OE specs to reduce duplicate repairs and false “Check Engine” warnings. Ford genuine DPFE sensors include OE innovations and upgrades that are guaranteed for all Ford, Lincoln and Mercury vehicles. For instance, aftermarket DPFEs usually are made of metal. This may seem to be sturdier, but such models are more susceptible to corrosion and deteriorate much quicker than OEM ceramic DPFEs.
