OEM Part Info - Oxygen Sensor
The OEM oxygen sensor is responsible for measuring the amount of oxygen in the fuel that is being sent to the engine. This oxygen is delivered in a ratio that is set by the manufacturer in order to deliver peak performance from the engine. The amount of oxygen is carefully monitored by this electronic sensor. If the mixture of fuel is incorrect, there is the chance that the engine will run either too rich or too lean. Both cases indicate that the oxygen is not being properly distributed, which causes the engine to either burn too much fuel or too little fuel. Either way, the engine is not performing properly and is producing emissions that are harmful. The oxygen sensor is set by the manufacturer, so only genuine Ford OEM parts should be used in your Ford vehicle.
If the oxygen sensor is not properly functioning, you may see the Check Engine light come on. This may mean that there is a problem with the emission system.
